Renewable Energy Projects
67.5% of the total Tread Lightly fund are reinvested in green energy technologies at all LUX* destinations and for this financial year, projects like solar water heating, solar energy or water optimisation technologies have been devised for testing with intent of implementation throughout the year.
These technologies will considerably reduce fossil fuel as well as water consumption. Implementation, performance and progress will be published on website and IAR 1718.
Travelife Seminar 2018 at LUX* Grand Gaube

LUX* has various Travelife Gold Certified properties since 2015. Our newly renovated LUX* Grand Gaube will host the Travelife Seminar 2018 on the 16th of March 2018 from 9.30 to 14.00 with over 50 participants from various hospitality sector companies like TUI UK ( previously Thompson ) regrouping 1600 travel agencies, 6 airlines, over 300 hotels and 14 cruise liners. We will hear from the Chief Executive of the Stock Exchange of Mauritius on the new direction the global finance markets are taking in terms of sustainable investments.

LUX* Annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Cheque Remittance Ceremony
Every year LUX* gathers resort General Managers, Sustainability Representatives and NGO Representatives at its Head Office in Floréal, Mauritius. Disbursing it's CSR fund is not only legal compliance but aligns with LUX* sense of ethics and desire to support the communities where we operate. Each LUX* resort in Mauritius is affiliated with an NGO of its area in one of our priority areas of either poverty alleviation through education, healthcare for the needy, biodiversity conservation, women empowerment for gender equality or capacity development for the physically disabled through sports.
The Cheque Remittance Ceremony is scheduled for the 29th of August , 2017.
GRI Standards Launch Event at LUX* Belle Mare - June 2017
GRI Africa, LUX*Resorts and partners Omnicane and Terra Mauricia have compiled an engaging program for the local launch of the GRI Standards with a session to discuss the role of sustainability reporting in the business response to the SDGs.

This event is designed to give you an interactive, detailed overview of the very latest development in sustainability reporting.
Attendees will be guided through the benefits of the GRI Standards, gaining an excellent oversight on the changes from the GRI G4 Guidelines. It will also be an opportunity to network with fellow peers, exchanging knowledge with those striving to be at the forefront of developments in the reporting landscape.
Expert focus group on the role of reporting in the business response to the SDGs
Corporate actors are crucial in creating green growth outcomes, sustainable development and reducing poverty through their daily operations, goods and services. These ambitions are anchored in international policy arenas such as the Global Goals and incorporated into national development and trade policies. GRI seeks to identify the concrete connections between sustainability reporting and the business contribution to achieving the SDGs.
Leaders from business, civil society, government and others in the development arena are invited to join together in a focus group format to discuss the current and potential role of sustainability reporting in the business response to the SDGs.
